Also consider taking something to help your immune system.  The immune system is a highly complex defence system designed to protect the body from disease or infection.

Supplements containing substances called beta glucans are effective at boosting the immune system and protecting against both bacterial and viral infections and are clinically proven to help reduce symptoms of flu.  Lamberts beta glucans are the choice of many practitioners.

Other nutrients that are known to support the immune system are Zinc, Vitamin D3 Propolis, Vitamin C Vitamin E and Vitamin B2 known as Riboflavin. Lamberts make a delicious Lozenge, Zinc Plus, that contains a combination of immune supporting nutrients.

Viruses such as those that cause coughs, clods and influenza (flu) are made up of tiny particles, microbes,  that can be easily spread through tiny water droplets released into the air when coughing and sneezing.  If you sneeze into your hand and then touch any surface, you could leave infectious microbes there.  Objects also become contaminated when the droplets land on them. Everyday items such as door handles, computer keyboards, mobile and ordinary phones and the TV remote control are all surfaces where cold and flu viruses can be found.  If people touch these surfaces and then touch their faces, the germs can enter their systems and they can become infected.  This is how all cold and flu viruses are passed on from person to person.

It is therefore really important to protect yourself against catching flu and a good place to start is personal hygiene,

Regular hand-washing is essential especially if commuting or if in contact with people suffering from colds and flu. You could also consider keeping a good hand sanitizer in your bag or on your desk.

On the whole, our golden rule is that if you are feeling really unwell, bed rest is the best idea, and if you are infectious it is also best not to go to work or school as this will only spread the infection.
